With its six Doric columns, and stucco exterior, 422 Main St. introduced the Greek Revival style to Natchez. Built in 1826 as the Agricultural Bank, this building has been home to a variety of businesses.
Just before the onset of the American Civil War, the Agricultural Bank failed, leaving the space open for a several different banking institutions. In the 1860’s, between banking institutions, the building was converted into a saloon and restaurant aptly named “The Bank. After the closing of the restaurant, 422
Main St. was home to a several other banks, including The First National Bank of Natchez, and First Natchez Bank.
In 1916, Britton & Koontz Bank purchased the building, and stayed a Natchez landmark until the 1980’s. When Britton & Koontz moved their main branch across town, 422 Main St. served as a miscellaneous office building. In 2021 the building was purchased by Cathy, Marty, and Frankie, and on October 14, 2022, 422 Main St. officially opened as Frankie’s on Main.
